In the mid 50s a group of people called "Beatniks" emerged. They were different from the typical American. They mostly wore black, listened to Jazz, discussed intellectual conversations, and said things like "yeah I know that cat". A few years later another group of people emerged from San Francisco and they were to be called "Hippies". They wanted peace, love, equality. They practiced Yoga and started the first earth day. They ate organic foods and lived in communes out in nature. They took psychedelic drugs and introduced a new type of music based on the feelings you get when your high.

Basically these two groups had good and bad effects on the world today. We are allowed to express our selfs through music, art, and poetry more freely. But thats not to say that we aren't still a very conservative society. So I ask is there a need for a counter culture? And if so when do you predict that it will happen? And what will it change?

I think we maybe in one know. This one however is about the individual not the idea of a group. The new one is based on people doing what they feel like when and how they feel like doing it all that unites them is the idea that they should be allowed to do as they please without being held responsible for their actions. They feel that war is wrong or that it is a needed evil, just as long as they themselves do not have to go. They feel that if they want to they should be allowed to use whatever drug they wish, after all it is their body right? I mean how silly. They think the state or someone should give them what they want when they want it and without having to really earn it. I know this may sound stupid but I think in a way a counter culture is on the move and it is not a positive one.
