Well it depends on what you copied. If you copied an entire sentence then yes that is called plagiarism. If you took a few words from a sentence then that would be fine. I hope this helped.

Copying a sentence from any source (save the dictionary) is plagiarism, unless you list the source. If this is for an English assignment, I'm assuming your teacher actually wants YOU to do the work, so you might want to get those cogs working. If you were to "copy" a word or two from a sentence, that's different, it's just a word. For example, if I copied the word "kayak" out of a book, that wouldn't count as plagiarism, because it's just a word, and not original.

If you are merely using an online dictionary to find definitions of words, it would not be plagiarism. This term refers to the COMPLETE, word for word copying of someone else's hard work--whether term paper, thesis, novel, etc--and claiming it as your own work. If you use any parts of a report, etc., you MUST GIVE CREDIT to its original author, publisher, name of the report or book, when and where it was published, and the page numbers you used. Using an online dictionary is okay, if you don't have one of your own.
