I mean, really, what is the point in saving the planet if we have no one LEFT on the planet?

okay, I don't know why it cut off part of my question, but it should read "overpopulation/environmental reasons you shouldn't."
Weird.

no, I am actually referring to the several questions I have answered in the last 24 hours that say having kids is cruel and selfish. Period. No mention of numbers in there at all.

Having kids is a huge responsibility, and having them should be discretionary. If they are against it, I think they should just get on with their lives and hush about having them, but they have the right to speak their mind.
However, I have much more respect for someone wise enough to know they would rather not have them, than many I have met who talk of having children as if the undertaking is some sort of novelty. Those ones I would rather see just get a pet.

I don't think people are complaining about people having kids, it's the ones pumping out 6 or more. Prior to medicine, it made sense because so many died, but now they all survive. We have no shortage of people. There are more people alive today than have lived through 10,000 years of history combined.
The argument that there aren't enough young workers is not relevant. China already knows if they don't substantially lower their population, one good famine will decimate it. It's a lot better to have less people, than a whole lot starve to death.

Yeah i'm not sure either why people would think that we would be better off with a lot fewer people. I know China's theory of it but if we all stop having kids because of overpopulation eventually there would be no kids left and thus no future.

i donno.. i feel like some members of my family should just be fixed weather they like it or not.. come on.. some people shouldn't breed.. example.. two of my cousins decided to defect on their families leaving four children without mothers.. thankfully my family had a meeting and agreed each capable person would adopt one of the children, now i have one, my mother has one my brother has one and another cousin has one.. if we as a family hadn't stepped up, those children would be lost to the foster care system.. and one of those defective mothers has already produced ANOTHER baby.. the family can but stand by and wonder.. who'll get this one?
that aside, if your a caring loving person who wants to raise a child, to know the pure joy of having your very own child.. more power too you! i am on my second natural child.. :)
oh yes these children that where adopted out to different members of the family where usually all from different fathers who where not around.. just to be clear, its not just the mothers, its the fathers as well..

truth be told, overpopulation is not a big a problem as some people make it out to be. More and more countries are modernizing and their birth rates are stabilizing. Some countries are now facing a shortage of young people to care for and take the jobs of those who are retiring and aging.

I get agitated by couples who have like 10 of their own kids.
It makes me sad to see all of the children out there without homes.
As far as overpopulation and pollution. yes, it's getting worse. my son had to spend his year of kindergarten in the basement of a church b/c the schools are over flowing.
just take a look at rush-hour. its disgusting how many cars there are out polluting the Earth!

I had someone give me that line when I was pregnant with my second child. I told him I agree with him and wish his mother had felt the same way.
