Usually a few hours to maybe a day or two. But, that is just generally. I think there have been situations where it's been pretty much proven that sperm can sometimes stay alive for several days -- like even up to a week? That is why it is so easy to get pregnant even when you think you have had sex during infertile times in your cycle.

I have heard that it depends on the environment into which they are introduced. For example, sperm can live up to 5 days in the vaginal cavity of a woman who is near ovulation....due to the EWCM which is pH friendly and supportive to their living. If it is any other time of the month, the environment inside of the vagina is hostile and will kill the sperm quickly. I hope this helps.

AIR DOES NOT KILL SPERM!!! Sperm die when the seminal fluid dries, in a few minutes or so, but they do not die upon contact with air, so sperm on a finger CAN get you pregnant.
In a womans body its up to 4 days or so.

Inside the women? It can live up to six days but all sperm is different. If its outside the body in air, they die right away.

it dies as soon as it hits air. if it is inside you...it could live for up to four days.
