Billy Connelly (the best comedian of all time) had some rather radical ideas on this subject. He suggested we eat them!
But in all seriousness we all need to practise giving to recieve. By this I mean we need to think of others and stop turning away, saying the problem is too big what can I do?
Every day, if we all do one thing to give kindness to one other person we remove alittle less of the darkness and let in alittle more light.
And remember poverty is not all about not having money, we can be poor in other ways. Time poor, lacking in kindness and caring, or not caring about our environment.

It depends on what you call Poverty- there will always be a certain amount of poverty this cannot be avoided and no nation or community can wipe this out completely but then there is the type of poverty caused by cigarettes, drugs and alcohol, children going to school hungry or not properly
dressed, tired because they do not get enough food or sleep because they have parents who care more for their addictions than for their children, a certain amount of this can be solved
by education or in some cases by steriliisation as some people should never be allowed to have children, but in the long run we will never solve poverty..

In poor countries there is not enough to go around so it is necessary to increase production to solve the problem of poverty. In the industrialized world the economy should provide enough well paid jobs to keep everyone out of poverty. However economic downturns happen and sometimes it fails, but mostly the economic causes of poverty are localized in depressed regions . In prosperous times and places the existence of poverty has many reasons and solutions must address each reason independently. In the US getting sick, natural disasters, or unexpected job loss cause many people to fall into poverty temporarily, so providing aid to tide them over is all that is necessary. For others, chronic health problems, mental illness, drug and alcohol addiction etc produce long term and almost intractable poverty. But there is also a lot of poverty caused by poor decisions made early in life such a dropping out of school or unplanned pregnancy that make supporting your self and your dependents almost impossible, so programs that promote better decision making for young people helps alleviate the problem.

Poverty is just one of those things you cant solve. Its mainly because of human nature and the tragedy of the commons. As humans, were greedy so we might wanna help, but not to the point where we dont have a lot of money ourselves. So thats one limitation.
Another is the tragedy of commons, where one person says, "my one donation wont make any difference" now that thought is implanted into everyone's heads so when everyone says "their donation wont make a difference" then yea thats true.
The best thing is to help the people in poverty through donations, food, and just love and respect them.

Poverty cannot be solved as it is a necessary byproduct of development and will always remain subjective. But what can be solved is basic need of hunger and housing. This is not a big task and can be achieved easily if a community works in tandem over these issues.

You can't, the great American dream is that you have to get up off your hiney, obey laws that are unsuitable to constitutional guarantees, and join the christian community.
We would rather keep jailing people and keep our system of I'm better than you, which involves privilege and a kiss your arse system.
Is poverty genetic read "Fatal Shores" the epic story of the founding of Australia by Robert Hughes. Criminals beget one of the most law abiding societies on earth.

Yes, failure is a part of capitalism. Without failure, there would be no winners, and no competition.
However, we could make poverty a little more bearable, especially for the people who work. Like health insurance.

if one chooses to be on the dole long term stop cash payments. day to day needs should be met by automatic payments, ie power, accommodation and telephone monthly foodstamps for groceries weekly and a clothing allowance could be set aside three monthly the usual emergency allowance should apply new genuine job seekers should be able to manage their own affairs for a certain time most poverty in our community is from bad budgeting
