Sims 2 is not an online game. There was a Sims Online game several years ago, but it wasn't very popular. They charged around $10 a month to play it.

The Sims 2 is not an online game. I think what you're thinking of is The Sims: Online. Which is a different game. Therefore, you can't play it online, so yeah I suppose it's free. :)
