A large outdoor wedding is planned for October 20th in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Is there any way to know what the weather will be like?

Forecast this far in the future are all based on climatology. Climatology will give you the average temperatures and the likelihood of precipitation. Let's say the climatology states a high termp of 70 degrees, prevailing wind southerly at 10 mph with only a 5 percent chance of precipitation. That's what you will plan for. As the event gets closer, 5-day forecasts will tell you if the weather will be similar to the climatology prediction or whether different. With the 5-day forecast, you can continue with plans or begin to make contingency plans.

Most likely, your biggest threat will come from those sudden and unpredictable rain and thundershowers. For those, most weddings have tents just in case.

It can't be accurately predicted that far out. You might as well
check the farmer's almanac.
