Does anyone else think that BMW 3 series new styling is a bit Japanese??? I mean, from 1999 through 2006 you couldn't mistake a BMW. When I first saw an 07 model, I actually thought it was a Toyota.... Just wondering

I think BMWs always have and probably always will be beautiful cars. I do like how the new 3 looks, and I don't think you can say it "looks Japanese." Current automobiles all have universal styling cues so they don't look weird. I don't think it looks like any Toyota offered because it does show very prominent BMW design elements such as the Hoffmeister kink in the rear windows, the twin kidney grille, and the elegant long front so the engine can be positioned for optimal 50/50 weight distribution and rear-wheel drive. I do, however, believe that the BMWs of the 1990s were the most beautiful. The 1995-2001 7series is an absolutely stunning car from every angle (especially with the sport package). I own a 1997 740i and I could never get tired of the way it looks. It has a very classic and sophisticated simple style, unlike the radical new 7 with it's bulging lines and "squatty" appearance. I'm not saying it's an unattractive car, I'm simply saying that design evolution has forced BMW to change pace. They have to keep up with everyone else to make sales so the cars end up looking Japanese like you said. If a BMW looks Japanese, so does everything else because that is just the way car design is going.

I own a 2007 3 series and love the styling. I think other car makes are copying BMW lately. And the new camry looks like a BMW, not the other way around.

There is no difference in the way they look. It's still the same body style. Only the engine and power have changed. You can get one with a sport package instead of all wheel drive if you don't feel you need it. The sport package comes with better tires and better springs for great handling.

I have a 2001 530 D wagon (motor not sold in America for all I know) and wanted to buy a new model until I saw them!!! I don't like them. I hope that they will restyle in the next 3 years or so because I don't want to wait much longer. Great thing about a Diesel is that it runs, and runs, and runs, and runs...

The BMW 335 is a STUNNING looking vehicle. the 328 is ok looking. I don't think they look Japanese, but it's not as sexy as the 335.

I really dislike the new sedans, both 3 and 5. They remind me of a Lexus. If I wanted a Lexus, I'd buy one.

I do however like the new 335ci.
