I have a 3.54 GPA and my SAT scores are 660 on the Critical Reading, 600 on the Math, and 670 on the Writing. I'm the Editor-in-Chief of my high school newspaper, President of the Asian club, I've done tech work for our school musicals, I'm part of my school's mock trial team, I've had an internship with the local newspaper, and I can name several references at the Washington Post. Is that not enough? Should I be doing more or raising my SAT scores? I know my math isn't that high but what about everything else? Help me please!

You aren't completely out of range, but your GPA is below their mean, and your SAT scores, while reasonably good, aren't stellar enough to ensure that they will compensate for the GPA. It sounds like your extracurriculars are good, but those will NEVER substitute for weaknesses in academics. I would give the SAT another try, just to see if you can bring the scores up - especially the math. As you say, you fall below the middle 50% of admitted students on that score.

Seems to me like you stand a pretty good chance. Definitely fill out an application. Your extracurriculars seem to really stand out, and your scores seem to be pretty good. So go for it, you may be accepted.
NYU is very competitive. That's why I can't say whether it's a sure thing or not.
