If Michigan was rated 5th,and Appalachian beat them fair and square in their own place,is it not the right thing to do and give Appalachian State credit,otherwise the rankings are a joke

Absoluty not. What you speak of makes sense, and is therefore never an option in college football. Next thing, you'll be wanting a legit playoff system, rather than voting on the fianalists for national champion.

Not only the Appalachian State should be rated in AP poll but Michigan should be out of the poll this year for the embarrasing loss.

AP voters are not allowed to vote for I-AA teams. And even if they could, no they shouldn't. Appalachian State did an amazing job doing what they did and they deserve all the attention they've got, but they were playing a Michigan team that clearly phoned it in. You can do that sometimes, but every now and then these rent-a-win teams can get pumped up enough to beat you. I promise you that if ASU were to play even a mid-level I-A team, that team would be sure not to underestimate them so as not to be the team that was upset by a I-AA school and would not lose. Emotion plays a HUGE role in college football, which is what happened Saturday.
