The feathers weigh more. Gold is measured in troy ounces. There are 16 oz. in a pound. There are 12 troy ounces in a troy pound. A short ton is 2000 pounds. Can we see how this works?

A ton is a measure of weight. If X and Y both weigh a ton, neither weighs more than the other.
Now a question for you: If a plane crashes on the border between Canada and the United States, in which country are the survivors buried?

Neither, they bothe way the same, i.e. they both way a ton.
This is a trick question. If you were not paying attention to the details of the question, It makes you unsure because feathers are lighter, but gold appears to occupy less space. However the question did say a ton of feathers and a ton of gold which is the same weight.

Aha...a trick question. Like - if an airplane crashes on the state line between kansas and nebraska, in which state are the survivors buried?
They both weigh the same. But I'll take the ton of gold.

HAHA.....A ton is a ton, although it sure would take a lot more feathers to make a ton, due to their mass, than it would gold.
