My baby's father acts like nothing doesn't matter to him at all. He is really caring. He likes to cuddle and kiss me, but he beats around the bush when ever we talk. I can tell he wants to say something to me, but he just doesn't know how to say it. He tries to come off as the hard type. He always told me he was hurt in this relationship in the past and he can't trust anyone now. I think that has something to do with it. How can I get him to be himself and say what he wants to me? Please no crazy answers...

Sounds like your guy needs some time to get over the past issues you both had. He must be afraid to tell you his feelings.
Just reassure him that he can talk to you about anything.
That is if you are willing to listen and not cast any blame on him, or judge him for his feelings. He might be avoiding conflict with you, He doesn't want to fight. So be prepared to bite your tongue about certain things.
While on some issues I know you will need to talk it out. Not argue..
Time, honesty, trust, forgiveness.
