Because, with few exceptions, the wise seek knowledge, not power. Whereas those who go into politics seek power, not knowledge, and so are usually beholden to special interests, be they to the left or the right.

it appears there are constant conflicts at so to say wise politics where one always wants to surpass his friend.have you heard this morning British have become wise after events Basra)to disagree with US-leaving work undone they want to retire!Historians say this is the way of British politics since long long ago- to leave the terrain and go home as they did everywhere they colonised! Must agree when we see the border conflicts etc.yet there are brains there -why did they not empower their people before leaving! Why put the seed of the plant called democracy in a soil before preparing it to hol d it ?
I better stop not tot violate any community rules. In brief there appear to be nothing wiser than politics -to some thin headed ones!.... There reply would be " this is our culture to put hands into pockets of voters and spend heavily...never mind the consequences -at politics there are always reasons to cover up"
