How do I revert it back to normal? And since, for example, my homepage is www.yahoo.com. Then I want to get to... www.xanga.com. The internet will open in a new page, and hang, thus, i will never be able to get to it. I can, however, get to different pages by using the Yahoo search engine.

What do I do?

Click on TOOLS, then INTERNET OPTIONS.

Where it says "Home Page" does it say Yahoo? Or is it blank?

If it's blank, then what your computer is doing is using whatever web address you type in as your homepage. And that explains why it's "hanging".

If it's blank, type in www.yahoo.com.

Another way, if you don't want to type in a address to be used as your home , go to whatever page that might be (Yahoo. Google, MSN, etc), then do the TOOLS thing again and click on "Use Current".

To keep from opening a new window each time go to
Tools
Internet Options
General
Go down to Tabs, click Settings
At the bottom click 'A new tab in the current window.'

If your browser is hanging be sure to dump your Temporary Internet Files while you are changing the tabs configuration.

Click TOOLS, then INTERNET OPTIONS, then ADVANCED. Put a checkmark by 'reuse windows for launching shortcuts' and a checkmark by 'use http 1.1'.
