I moved. And when I plugged my speakers back in my computer, they didn't work. I don't even get a ding when I change volume controls. I think it may be a problem with my computer, as I tried a different pair of speakers, and they don't work either. I have checked my volume control panel, and nothing is muted. yes, it is plugged into the back. windows has determined that my drivers are up to date. i just got this hp computer in february, and i have windows vista. i use my commputer mostly to listen to music. please help.

try to browse for the speaker in your system. if ur using XP sometimes it happen that due to usage the speaker errors in that case u must re-install your driver to get him running again. thats what i did when i ecountered it., tc..

Make sure you plugged them into the right jack (not the microphone jack for instance). Make sure the power supply for the sound system is plugged in. Make sure the speakers are turned on at an OK volume. Make sure that you did not hit MUTE on the control panel.
When you go to control panel you should be able to find a test program that lets you see what is wrong with speakers and sound system. Try the ideas up above first. They cover most problems that occur after moving a computer.

If for some reason the explanations given above don't work... Which I agree is 99% of the problems... then it may be simply a software problem
If your keyboard has a volume knob or buttons, then turn your computer speakers up with your keyboard - this will actually increase the volume by your audio card and not on the speakers themselves.
Right click on your speaker icon (normally found near at the Taskbar near your clock... and then go to Volume Control...)
Check to see if anything is turned down or muted..

are you sure you plugged it in the right socket?
coz there are 3 sockets for audio.
1=mic
2=in audio
3=out audio(you should plug it here)
or maybe your speakers are not powered on.
