Baking soda and borax. Baking soda on pets and carpet and bedding; borax on the carpets left overnight and then vacumned up. Empty the vacumn immediately. Both baking soda and borax dry the critters up and if you do it once every few days for about 2 weeks, you get them all.

HOWEVER -- they WILL come in from outside and depending on the area of the country you live in, they can be horrible. Bite the big one in the yard, use a flea killer and keep pup off it for a few days. After that, it'll be fine.

Not sure if this qualifies as organic, but when my cat was a kitten and too young for Frontline, I would brush her with a flea comb and then dip the comb in a cup of rubbing alcohol to drown the fleas and then repeat over and over. The alcohol kills the fleas and doesn't hurt the animal. You have to do it several times a day though and vacuum your house and furniture like crazy.

The safest and cheapest method of getting rid of fleas is to use a mixture of boric acid and salt. The powder should be sprayed on carpets, bedding and areas frequented by pets. More information on getting rid of fleas is available at http://pests.in/fleas.html

There are some sponge things you can buy from a plant nursery that eat fleas, also, citrus spays help. I doubt anything natural stuff works that well though, fleas are resistant to everything.

Brewers yeast can be found at vitamin stores and can be used to control fleas. Just sprinkle it on your dog and rub it in. The great thing is , it is good for the dog.
