If you owned the Orioles what would you do over the offseason to make them a contender, that isn't ridiculous like trading Freddie Bynum for A-rod or something like that. Trades, Free Agents and Call-ups.

What would their lineup be?
What would their Rotation be?
Who would be their closer?

I would petition to be removed from the American League East.
Seriously though, they need to quit wasting money on these free agent failures. The GM should be fired and not the managers all the time. They need a legit hitter to hit behind Tejada. I like Bedard and that young guy they got Guthrie looks pretty good to. Like everyone else they could use more pitching. Especially in the bullpen. I might try to pick up another starter and put Cabrera in the pen, see if Cabrera can get it together in there because he has the talent. I would move a couple guys to, probably Patterson.

Reverse the mistake of 1953-54 and return them to St. Louis.
Hire a manager and GM that know their butts from a hole in the ground.
Assess their farm system to see what they got and what they need.
Strip the fat off the bones and get as much meat as financially possible by trade and free agency.

I'm sure at the core, they have a decent team, but they have no motivation or direction. Getting rid of the dead limbs from the top, down, and bringing in some fresh blood to spark them should do the trick. Step One is kicking DeAngelos sizable butt out the door!

The main problem with the Orioles is similar to that of the Astros -- the one person who most needs to go is the one who cannot be fired.

I would send down all of their Major Leaguers to Single A and bring up all of the Single A Roster to the MLB!

That way they go 0-162!
