Kid Nation is a reality television show that is to air on the CBS network September 19, 2007, filling the time slot of the serial drama Jericho. The show will feature 40 children, age 8–15, and was shot at the Bonanza Creek Movie Ranch, a privately owned town built on the ruins of Bonanza City, New Mexico, eight miles south of Santa Fe. In the show, the children try to create a functioning society in the town, including setting up a government system, with minimal adult help and supervision. The program was originally scheduled to air in the summer of 2007.
The show stresses the difficulty of creating a viable society. The official CBS promo depicts children arguing with one another, crying, and falling over with exhaustion. At the end of each episode, an elected council of kids awarded the "Gold Star," worth $20,000, to a fellow participant. Participants were paid $5,000 for their involvement in the show's taping.

My definition.

It looks like a great show were kids can have there own democracy. They do have a town council stating what participant may recieve the gold star. It will be used for college. The point is for kids to help each other out and try to make a well living for the time it runs.

It's a show about kids forming there own society without adult supervision.
It has not aired yet it will on September 19th.
There has been alot of controversy stirred up because one of the parents filed lawsuit after the filming because her daughter was splattered with grease while cooking.
And alot of rumors have been started that there were NO adults there.
But the reality is that there was a full Production Team there a Full Medical Team with Paramedics and a Child Psychologist along with and Animal Guardian for the Protection of the animals. There were also Teachers there because it was filmed during the school year and the kids had to keep up with there school work
Also the Producers called each child's parents every three days to let them know what was going on with there child.
The children were allowed to leave at anytime and were payed too.
Some people are trying to say it was some house of horrors but I tend to think things have been exaggerated and blown way out of proportion. And all the facts are not out there either.
But I don't think kids and Reality TV are necessarily a good idea but I'm going to withhold judgment until the show actually airs.

Think "Lord of the Flies" only instead of an island, it's a town, and the kids have to run it and create a society of some sort, with no adult supervision, and without cracking under any pressure.
