Obviously you've never heard of Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Nas, Freeway, Lupe Fiasco...shall I continue? That's the REAL hip hop.

If white ppl (who suppose to have "supreme knowledge") would stop buying ignorant hip hop, then rappers like Common, Talib Kweli, Rymefest, Pharoah Monch, Mos Def, Dead Prez, Immortal Technique, Lupe Fiasco, the Roots would become the face of Hip Hop. But for some strange reason, middle class whites, who are supposed to be higher class, more intelligent & better educated only want to listen to ignorant gangsta rappers. Seems like when a rapper exhibits intelligence, true creativity, social awareness & such-they (most not all) have no interest in it. Then the blatant racist get on here & say, "See look at them", ignoring the fact that whites are the biggest consumers. & the subtle racist (which is the new art of being racist today) use words like "culture", & pretend that all rappers are "gangsta rappers". Well tell your sister, cousins etc. 2 stop buying it. Because YOU helped this "culture" become popular regardless of how many black rappers corporations find to exploit themselves.

Gee...thanks for the hip hop audit there chief, but I'll have to respectfully disagree
I like the hip hop culture because it is a romance culture (as opposed to a classical culture), it embraces individual style and creativity, and it unites and invites all ethnic/racial groups .... I'm not defending that shiitty gang culture, I'm talking about the good music.....I also like the house/techno music that stemmed from hip hop culture (mostly breakbeats), the urban style dress, and inventive dance techniques
We don't have to speak the Queen's English to sound educated (I speak New Yorka English), and I love it when someone thinks they are more intelligent or more knowledgeable about a subject than me because of the way I dress or talk -like this one idiot in my organic chemistry class- i love making them feel stupid when they underestimate my asss
And about me....I am white, full-time college student, I never sold drugs, compassionate, ethical, 129IQ, I have integrity, and I make my money from the military

except artist or their checklist labels can and are keen to spend 1000's of 1000's of dollars to push a sparkling single (Pay-for-Play, criminal payola) , they are able to't acquire commercial spin on FM radio or video time on significant networks. the variety of matters that u talk approximately won't make funds and checklist companies, radio stations and tv networks do not prefer to hazard it. human beings help it because of the fact maximum all human beings is passive (checklist labels comprehend that). If u hear a song 5x an afternoon probability is which you will finally end up liking it. a superb variety of the time this is a song like "Wipe Me Down" extremely of a song like "the persons" via difficulty-loose. those days, human beings could desire to seek for some significant hip hop, and the traditional public in basic terms take what's in front of them, like the "self-damaging violence, lack of information, and misogyny". I hear to the Rappers that talk approximately "the money they have made, the ladies persons they have sexed, they drugs they have offered, and the partying they have completed," yet I additionally hear to Rappers like Mos Def, Lauryn Hill, Talib, and Rappers alike. There seems to be no stability whilst it includes Hip Hop, and that needs to take place quickly. Oh yeah, I believe u. The media has Hip Hop "hostage," alongside with the buyer (no count the floor tone) and those Artist/checklist companies that do notwithstanding to make some funds.

I think people are lost...They don't know what true hip-hop is... The only reason why rappers on the radio talk about sex and women in a bad manner is because they know sex sells...literately... For some reason the more they talk about it the more they get more money... I mean its wrong but true...
I think some people also listen to rap because of the beat it gets people whats the word...well it makes people lively...
Now real rap is those of common, Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kwali...talking about what is real... My favorite song is Guru ft. Common- Clarity... I think that is a beautiful song...

you are confusing hip hop with gangsta rap....they are two different genres of music....hip hop does not demoralize or dehumanize any group of people...the hip hop movement is actually here to counter act the type of music you are speaking of....now, there are very few hip hop groups that are popular...they are usually underground...it makes ya wonder what the record companies are up to...do you know who owns the record companies?...also, are you aware of how american pop culture has depicted urban and rural black america all throughout history?...it is something to really look into if you are curious about the music scene in our country and why stereo types get promoted in certain ways while others get ignored...another answerer already specified a few very good hip hop groups and i will add to the list dead prez, digable planets, arrested development, a tribe called quest...etc.....

Ok, you will get some not so nice answers here I bet. I think it is just a way of being. Anyone remember the stupid valley girl talk and act? How stupid was all that?
The songs are all about money, hoes and what I guess they are comfortable with. But, Beyonces music is pretty lame too. And so many young girls look up to her. For what? It's just a way for them to act, because they can't be normal, I guess. But, you are in a way, right to feel like this. In my opinion.

i am white and i think you are being a bit ignorant to the subject of hip hop. seems like you dont know much about it at all. these people are reflections of the society that we create, and by we i mean people of all races. it takes talent to be a good rapper. just so you know. and there are women who are bitches and hoes. i am sorry but there are. so there is nothing wrong with calling a spade a spade.

i don't think it is a culture, i think it is a choice and a conscience decision that people make. and the songs song idiotic and you can barely call them english, but for some reason these people are filthy rich and people wonder why their kids come home saying the "way i are" and "get my herr did". and i know that not all rappers are like that but that vast majority are and all of the popular ones are. and these people advocate bad and almost and sometimes criminal behavior

Maybe you're listening to the wrong music. It's easy to form everything into one big generalization. The first answer looks very familiar - I think it was from one of my answers to a similar question.
