Federal law is 14 but you can't work more than 20 hours a week during a school week and 40 hours during vacation time.

14. But, there are severe restrictions on the work of 14 and 15 year olds. Also, you may be a Paper Carrier at the age of 12, but do not need a work permit for THAT JOB.

In most jobs it is 16, but at some restaurants they will hire you to bus at 14.

16 almost every place. Some Dairy Queens and other ice cream places will hire 14, but you have to go in and ask they won't tell you on the phone
