BOTH. You can't have one without the other in my book. BUT......
( Experience ) is said to be the best teacher in how to use one's equipment however; as a young married couple who were virgins at the time of their marriage told me - they were able to talk about what pleased each of them while they were learning TOGETHER. In this case, female would not know if his equipment was not enough. So I guess it really is up to the couple who are willing to work with each other based upon their love and devotion to each other.

Size, but I do not really care how big or small, as long as it works... I also sometimes like the right technique when it is in use. It matters if it fits, that's all. Hope this helps...
