The contractor made a mistake installing my tub and I need to take some of the plumbing apart. It was glued with Harvey's ABS cement A-6. Is there a solvent I can use to dissolve this glue??

If it dissolves the glue it will melt the abs. You have to cut out the part and replace it.

As far as I know that glue is permanent and strong. Cut the joint out at both ends and buy a new section, joints and PVC glue to re-install in the position you need.
