Mercedes sucks (probably literally by the time she's 13).

I love them both. I like Mercedes slightly better though since Leila is becoming more popular and might cause pronunciation issues for some people. Plus, Mimi is a really cute nickname as is Sadie.

Mercedes is a car not a name but if you do really love this name and don't want to give it up use it for a middle name. Leila is very cute if pronoced "Lay La."

I adore the name Mercedes ... especially with the nickname Sadie. It's not entirely useable though, because the Mercedes car ..... like most things percieved as "rich" (Diamond, Lexus, etc.), it's a favorite adult entertainment name.
Leila is a favorite of mine ... I do prefer the spelling Layla, but Leila is more practical (because it removes the LAY from the spelling).

mercedes is DEF a stripper name
even in 4th grade, strange story, my friend picked a stripper name.. it was Mercedes.. if a 4th grader can recognize the name as stripper-ish, it's pretty stripper-y
