"Who cares about any sort of virtue, who cares about honesty, loyalty and everything else that makes life noble? You take what you can get, forget about everyone else, and get to the top of the world. Get wealthy, get famous and your life is good."

Well, that may be fine for a shallow person such as yourself, but some of us aspire to a little bit more. Some of us are capable of a little bit more. A person that follows a virtuous path will reap rewards that you will never know. Not only the self-satisfaction of being able to look at a person in the mirror who is admirable and strong in their convictions, but in the more material rewards of life. How much of what we get out of life do we get out of the people around us? And who is more likely to get things from those people - a shallow, self-serving fool who has no principles, or an honest virtuous person who people can trust and care about? It's idiots like you who drag us all down into the muck. If we could all be decent and cooperate, we could fly.

Without those who possess a view towards the noble and right, there would be no world for the morally lacking massess to survive in.

If everyone were wealthy, there would be no need for wealth and the same applies accross the board.

We are kind and good to each other out of neccessity. If we were all as you say, we would have destroyed ourselves ages ago.

When the ones who believe in such things outnumber the ones who dont care either way or who are striving for better, we will see a noteable decline.

Your own creed keeps you at bay.

LONELY!!!
UNHAPPY!!!
The essence of ones self-worthieness is strengthened through acts of noble activities.
Without principles will that mean not answerable for actions?
And what is sent out is given back with the intention that it was given and the intent dictates the consequence.
What goes around comes around is an old wise saying!
Without virtue, honesty and loyalty then love will not survive.
Only a breeding ground of hate, pain and cowardness will be its constant reward and companion.
Hopefully you can help this person's sad out look on life...
Good luck

I would try to talk to them and see if there is something that is causing them to act out in this manner. There might be personal problems causing them to act out like this. If they truly believe that mess and are only concerned about themselves, I would tell them "I wish the best for you and good luck". Those that live a life solely on the basis of I only care about me and screw the rest will end up being by themselves in the end. They will only hurt others along the way and use anyone they can to get further along in life. From a Christian viewpoint, I would say that I worry about their soul and pray for them. Hopefully one day they will realise that caring about and helping others is important, sometimes that will come with age and experience.

The fatal reality of this philosophy: The problem with being ON TOP of the world is that it's a long way down, and don't think for a minute you came up with the idea of getting to the top of the world, those who you've stepped on, cheated out of, and lied to don't mind watching you (or helping someone else) fall down and watching you splat!

Truthfully, that quote is exactly how deep deep deep down inside all of us feel.
We want to get what we want (fame)
and try to get it without any distractions (honesty loyalty)

That's kinda harsh, but we've all kind have thought of living life like that at least one time in our life :-)

i'd tell them good luck in their sad, lonely little life. you have very few friends in that kind of backstabbing world and it would never be that fun if you had to wory about someone stepping on you to get higher.
