i dont know how to do the rose, but the heart you can either use the & symbol followed by 'hearts' and then a semi colon or by pressing Alt+3 [number pad three though] and it will get you the same thing.

Go to Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Character Map. This has all the symbols available in each font. You can copy and paste them or type in the keyboard shortcut in the bottom left of the window. I haven't found a rose symbol yet, but have a browse and it might be there.
You get a heart by holding down Alt then pressing the 3 on your number pad on the righthand side of the keyboard. Then release Alt ♥♥♥♥♥♥
I usually put Num Lock on while I'm doing this.
Alt+1=☺
Alt+15=☼
Alt+12=♀
There are heaps and heaps more.

I don't know how to do the rose, but to make the heart just hit alt and then 3 on the right side of the number pad.. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
