Yes, it definitely has an impact on the youth of today. I had a serious problem with it in my home because of the messages that it sent. My son bought a CD when he was 15 and I came home from work to lyrics that were talking about killing the cops and such nonsense. I went in his room, opened hid CD player, took out that piece of trash CD and broke it over my knee. He didn't quit listening to it I am sure but he quit bringing it in my house after that. The "gangsta" rappers are bad influences and bad role models.
No Denise raps not connected to suicide it glorifies murdering police officers, rape, gang violence and killing. Your right white heavy metal has it's problems too but your argument for rap versus heavy metal based on the few suicides is like comparing a Robins egg to and Ostrich egg, there's a whole lot of difference in the two.

>Does anyone else think rap destroys the present day youth?
No. Rap is just a form of...well, I'll call it music for the time being because all the more accurate terms are way too long, at any rate it is nothing more than a kind of music. It is entirely up to the kids whether they want to listen to this stuff or not, and it is also up to them whether they want to do what the rap suggests doing or not. I mean, what if someone rapped about jumping off a cliff into a pit of spikes? How many people would do it? Maybe one or two crackpots, but most people are sensible enough to realize that the rap is not giving them a useful message. All it takes is for people to be sensible enough to realize that the other messages contained in most rap are similarly not useful. Rap does not 'make' kids shoot and rape each other, any more than Harry Potter 'makes' kids wear robes and cast spells. It's the people at fault, not the music.

Yeah I think it does. This is just my opinion people so don't get mad or nothing...
Anyways I think the words in it are all just stupid, talking about how many women they can get and all that. Songs and music need to have some kind of meaning. I think lots of kids like rap because they think it's cool and all that.
But not all rap is bad, there's good rap too. As long as it has meaning and not just some crappy disrespectful stuff.

No, the same thing was said about Elvis Presley. He wiggled his hips (which wouldn't be shown on the Ed Sullivan show) and the older generation at the time thought he was appauling. Rap is just a musical expression of today's society. I'm an 'ol rocker and I don't care for rap, but I don't think it destroys anything, I think it's just another expression of today's living for some people.

I think a lot of things destroy today's youth. We accept so many things as the norm, such as greed, selfishness, broken down families, lack of morals or just respect for others. I think rap is definitely a big factor, but so are all the reality shows on MTV, or all the celebrities being so focused on in the media. I don't think your racist. I think you have a valid point. If people don't want to accept your viewpoint, then they are the ignorant ones.

what song are you talking about? the songs I hear on the radio are about "bar tenders, dance moves, hip hop police, more dance moves"..
Question for you - do you think people (like you) are okay with mafia movies and shows because the actors are Italian and not black?
So rap clothing bothers you? I don't even know what that means - but you really aren't explaining yourself too well. This is Rockawear - clothing line by the Rapper, Jay-Z: http://www.rocawear.com/nshop/product.php?view=listing&groupName=15knitall

Now I don't care who gets offended. I hate rock or metal or any of that stuff. How much of it promotes drug use? How many times have it been connected with teenagers committing suicide? How many times have rap been connected to suicide? Not once.

I know a lot of 'white' people that listen to rap too, so it isn't just black people that listen.
