Eminen, believe! For many reasons, one of those is he rapped about family dysfunction, abuse and so on. Which really had never been rapped about as far as from the perception of the one being abused. Rapped a new message if you will. Addressing people who were usually excluded from the rapping circles. Taping into a market unknown to most rappers at the time. Also made it popular to do so.

eminem...but I love paul wall when he is featured with other artists.. or of course, on "Oh girl" but overall, eminem is the better rapper. I got mad love for mr. wall though :)
