By the time you spend oh-so high gas prices ($2.65 gal) to drive 40 miles, you could have gone to the grocery and bought all of your favorites and prepared your own - but if you really insist and have a purpose for the long ride, have some friends you are going with and you are going to have a really enjoyable, nice evening out - then go for it! The drive can be fun. I am not that caught up with Outback however. I love their "Blooming Onion" and the "Coconut Shrimp". I don't like their steaks -I have had much better. And a lot of what they offer has a too spicy taste (some kind of pepper they add to everything!) You're own your own for your menu - and the best thing to do is ask the server. They are supposed to be top dollar in enlisting guests questions about the food selections.
Good luck!

Outback is one of the best steakhouses around. Victoria's filet is the most tender and the most flavorful steak I've ever had. I have never had raw meat served at any Outback restaurant. I like my steak well done, no pink on the inside. The filet is pretty thick so I just ask them to butterfly it and it comes out perfect every time. Their salads and bread that accompany the meal are great too. Kookaburra wings rock too!

I don't consider the menu to be limited. You can look it up online. They have several entrees that are $10, so it doesn't even have to be expensive. Fuddruckers is for hamburgers, pretty good ones too but you order them at a window then they call your name and you go fetch them. Chilis and Applebees are about the same price and I've had good food at each, but the menus are very different. I'm much more likely to find something I want at Applebees. I'm not big on really spicy stuff and I've been burned at Chilis, pun intended. Fridays is so crowded and noisy I seldom go there anymore. I like the food at Outback the best.

I love Outback. It's actually one of my favorite restaurants. I'm not sure what everybody is talking about saying the meat is raw and nasty. I think their steak is excellent. I get the 9oz Outback special, medium well. The steamed veggies are WONDERFUL, and I get the salad. The honey wheat bread they bring is also delicious. It is one place that I go that my meal is consistently good...every time. By the way, no kidding, we drive 50 miles to eat at one...well, and also to shop at Sam's. Give it a try!

In my opinion, no major chain restaurant is worth a 40-mile drive. While they may have some items that you would enjoy, my personal experiences with Outback have been less than satisfactory. Long waits, slow service, and mediocre food keep me from returning.

I agree with dutch. We drive 70 miles for their wonderful food. I have never had a bad steak there. Order it how you want it and the waitress or waiter will tell you how it should come out of the kitchen. The bloomin' onion is fantastic and I also love there baked potato. I have also always had wonderful staff there, that are very helpful. Well worth the drive. Have a great time.

Hmmm, no, no, not really. I've had steak there, and it takes about 3 minutes to chew one piece, and the steak is bland. The ribs aren't that great. Ruby Tuesday is better. The only thing I used to like was the kids Mac 'n' Cheese, but I'm older now, and some chicken would be a nice addition. :)

Get the Pork Chops if they are serving them that night. They are on the menu, but they don't serve them every night, GO FIGURE! I agree about the steaks, ask for them well done, and they will come out medium. I literally tell them to nuke them. Put in the microwave and nuke my steak for about 8 minutes. Not my favorite restaurant!
