That is in the Washington area, where a terrorist attack would most likely occur, and only for a period until it is deemed safe to allow the children to be released.

Not to sound cold here but the child actually is safer at the school than tied up in traffic caused by all the parents rushing to get their children at school. In the past, many schools were built to be bomb shelters and even today, they are often designated as evacuation sites for people who are forced out of their homes by storms or other natural disasters.

The government is guiding the various school authorities to cope with any such emergencies.I
am sure the schools would be better prepared to deal with the situation than individuals and parents like you and me.By trying to pick up our
children we would only hinder the authorities.
While I concede that we parents would be
worried and anxious about the safety of our
children,we must console ourselves that there
are well trained people out there who are fully
competent to tackle the situation.Let us not add to the panic and confusion by butting in
unnecessarily.Additional communication lines will always be opened up so that we would be
kept abreast of the latest about our children.

Children held hostage by the science terrorists. Government held responsible for neglect of families. all government and scientists remain in the sole custody of parents against insanity. communities form a coalition group to fight back against government overthrow of the family. I can just read the headlines now.

This is true. Many parents in the midwest found this out as they sat in front of schools during recent storms, and were not allowed access to their children...even well after hours!

I know that sounds cruel, but I think the child and you would be much safer if staying put. You wouldn't rush out into a tornado to reach the school where most likely they are in the shelter all safe. Your child needs you to be okay.

Well, they'd play hell keeping me from getting one of mine.
We had a couple of bomb threats here a few years back and I went and got my kid, even though they tried to assure me that she was safe and nothing would happen to her.
Hmmmm, let me see . . . . bomb threat at school . . . no bomb threat at home, or at grandmas, or at McDonalds or 2 states away. I got her.
