Every employer should have a company handbook. In it should say something about holiday pay (off), holiday pay (worked), overtime after 8 hours or after 40. If your company is large you might find this info online.

According to the Fair Labo Standards Act (FLSA), an employer who requires or permits an employee to work overtime is generally required to pay the employee premium pay for such overtime work. Employees covered by FLSA must receive overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a workweek of at least 1-1/2 times their regular rates of pay. However, FLSA does not require overtime pay for work on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, or regular days of rest.
This means that they do not have to pay you overtime, unless there is some agreement between you and your employer or you belong to some sort of union or agency that requires you to be paid time and a half.

Under the Fair Labor Standars Act (FLSA) your employer is not entitled to pay you overtime for saturdays/sundays, holidays, etc. They are required to pay you for overtime if your hours accumulate over 40. Each state gets to set thier own laws and if it benefis the employee more than the Federal law, employers are required to abide by state rules. However, I'm pretty sure Wisconsin falls under the FLSA and does not have any special provisions for holidays. Sorry!

By federal law, you get overtime pay if you work over 40 hours in a week. While many companies pay extra for holiday work, they aren't required to unless you have a contract that says that they are.

No. Places that are normally open on holidays like gas stations, restaurants, retail do not earn the double overtime pay. If you surpassed 40 hours for the week, then yes, you would then start earning overtime.

If you do not work over 40 hours, why would you be entitled to overtime?
