Certainly a dentist can work on a pregnant woman. Make sure to let the dentist know you are pregnant so that proper precautions will be taken. It is actually very good to get proper dental care while pregnant. There used to be an old saying that a woman lost a tooth for every pregnancy because there can be significant gum problems.

I have just had a filling removed and re-filled because like you I was in a lot of pain, I decided to wait until I was 12 weeks just in case (local anaesthetic etc) But my dentist was happy to do it anytime. I asked the doctor, midwife, hospital and dentist and they said its fine as long as the dentist knows you are pregnant and how many weeks. The dentist will avoid an x-ray or if it is essential they will give you two lead aprons to put on to reduce the risk of radiation to the baby. As long as the dentist knows you are pregnant its fine because he wont do anything that will put you or your baby in danger. Good luck, hope everything works out for you :)

Yes the dentist can do work on you and what's more you're entitled to free treatment until your child is one. Are you registered with a dentist? if not you may have difficulty finding one that Will take new patients and you may need to go to an emergency centre (your GP surgery will have details). You need to get that tooth seen to you'll be having enough sleepless nights before long! good luck X

Yes go ahead and make your appt. The pain is not good for the baby or you. It is better to get dentist work done in the first trimester than wait. I had 4 teeth pulled within my first 19 weeks of pregnacy because of pain.
Good Luck!!

Yes, while routine dental work is generally done only in the second trimester emergency dental work can be done at any time.
Certain anesthetics and freezing medications are safe for use during pregnancy.
Also dental problems can put you at a higher risk of preterm labour so that needs to be taken into account when weighing the risks of treatment vs waiting.
