I'm 20 years old, 5'2", and I weigh 98 lbs. I'm know I'm small, but I'm really healthy. I just started Loestrin 24 about 5 weeks ago and I'm really struggling to keep my weight the same. I can't eat anything. I feel like a balloon.

How long will this last? Should I try 3 months worth or stop?

I have this problem with birth control pills as well so I asked my doctor about it and he prescribed "YASMINE" to me which is specifically for use for ppl who are likely to gain weight. The hormone levels are adjusted so that they do not affect your body weight. (i.e do not increase your appetite, make you retain water, etc) Talk to your doctor or do an on-line search for birth control pills that help you maintain the same body weight. I gained so much weight the last time I was on the pill and I still haven't lost it all. It's something people should not take so lightly and drug companies have developed new pills to deal with a number of problems, from weight issues to acne!

Unfortunately, weight gain is a common side effect of birth control pills. I put on about 25 pounds when I last used birth control pills. You might check with your doctor about using another type of pills if this continues to be a problem. I used birth control pills for about a year and didn't notice any improvement with my weight.

Oh... Thats happended to me too, there is a q birth control pill called "Yasmin", it's not meant to make you put on any weight. I was on it for a while and didn't put on any weight, maybe ask your GP if you can swap.

try 3 mths. give it that long at least.
if you feel bloated, drink some more water and that will help you urinate more. also stay away from salt, salt makes you retain water.

it should go away. if it doesnt go away in the 3 mths see if the dr will change the pill to a different one.
