To my experience, the clicking is there to stay. The painw ill practically subside...but i didn't actually have surgery, i just took a wicked blow to the side of my knee and it messed me up pretty bad. Definitely give it some more time to improve, and don't push it into rehab too soon. But you're not meant to be in pain forever! so after a while you should consider getting it checked out.

Generally speaking the popping or clicking as you call it is a sign of a torn meniscus. It clicks when it "runs" across the bone. I am trying to keep from getting too technical here. I would be going back to your orthopedic surgeon and have him re-evaluate your knee. Sounds like your problem was not repaired or you re-injured yourself. You should also be doing some quad exercises, when your surgeon gives you the ok sign. This will help build up the quad muscle and give you more stability of the knee joint.

it's going to take a while to get back to normal. pain lasted a couple months for me. are you doing therapy? you can ask your pt about this. he'll have better info.
