Scientists, to be good scientists, need to be convinced by the evidence. All good scientists are from Missouri, metaphorically, " the show me state " and all ideas of scientists are subjected to the skeptical review of other scientists.

Because a scientist needs to maintain his/her objectivity. When you are working in research there is a temptation to be biased by your own results, afterall you worked hard to obtain them. Sometimes you have to conclude that your results are wrong and that's not always easy to do. Being a scientist means you also have to deal with ego and politics too.
