Find a college where the students are smiling when you go to visit. Until you find that place, go to your local college and take a semester there to find out what you want. You don't have to figure it all out today. If you want to own a bookstore, you need to read many books, and you need good business sense, and you need to be aware that you will not get any days off until you are about 10 years from retirement. It should sound like heaven to you, if that is what you love! Go for your dreams, but give yourself a chance to dream them first.

on the assumption that you are just out of high school ot entering yru sr year. the best advise i can give you is to go to a college far away from home it gives you more of a sense of growing up and leaving the nest. as far as planning a carreer you do pretty much just bump into very few people go to college and leave college with the same goals and desires as they went in with you grow and mature and your wants change with your maturity. start college and work towards something basic that you can use anytime what i mean is dont plan on being a lawyer right off because maybe in 5 years after devoting 5 years of your life towards you wil no longer want to do that. keep it general as you go you will ddiscover yourself and can change paths as they come

Only you can answer those questions! But I say do what you love, then you'll never have regrets. And there's no rule saying you can't try doing more then one thing. As for college, ask questions, get statistics, research the job your interested in. Find out if it's a job in demand in your area, and how many grads from there found employment in there actual field. Some colleges will try and coat the facts and say something like 98% of our grads found employment, but that doesn't mean in there actaull field that they studied.
