Yup.
It's sad that people get scammed into donating to him when they could just donate to plenty of other charities.

You're not the only one.
I don't care much for this or any of the other telethon including the ones for PBS. If you ask me those things gets more and more bloated and pathetic and annoying every year. In this day and age of internet, do we really need to go an entire WEEKEND getting hit you up for money and missing our favorite shows? To me, it's as bad as telemarketers who call during the dinner hour.
Mind you, I believe in charity, but not like this! If I want to donate, I know where to go on line to do it...and I'll give to the legitimate charities of my choice rather than being made to feel guilty with those fake tearjerking appeals.
I'm sure Jerry started out with his heart in the right place, but now it's just a habit..ok, so now it's labor day weekend, time for the telethon. Round up the usual celebrity suspects...
Did you hear he actually cussed out some disability rights protestors, and also makes fun of the disabled behind their backs? Shameful if you ask me.

You are misinformed, my friend. I have been volunteering with MDA for the past 24 years. My mother and many of my friends and family have different variations of MD. I have seen first-hand what MDA can do for people with the funds received from Telethon. I make a point to give every year. If I can't afford to give monetarily, I at least give of my time and energy. And being a member of the Vermont Executive Committee, I have my connections within the Association itself and know how the money raised is spent.

I wish it would disappear and you're right, it's nothing more than a scam. I agree that there should be a cure found for MD, but what about all of the other diseases and all of the other social plights that strikes our country. And how many millions of dollars are sent in every year and where does it go to?
I have a problem when doctors in this country donate their time to perform surgery on a little kid from Iraq while parents in this country struggle to have surgery for theirs.
