just keep on practicing infront of lots of people. it will help you get better at performing infront of them. you could also try pretending like it's just a small class of people (like 15 or so) or that the audience isn't even there. you could even try imagining them in their underwear (it doesn't really work though, it ususally just makes people giggle, which isn't very good if the scene is very serious). also try looking over the audiences' heads & looking at the back wall. practice in the mirror & just keep practicing infront of people. hope this helped!

Whoow..Wo.. Whoahw.. Calm down!
Yeah, its a lot of people. I have stage fright too but a little practice and confidence doesn't hurt :)
I think you should start acting in front of yourself, Look into a mirror and see yourself as you act, be confident. When your ready, start acting in small audiences, of 1-4 like family members and friends, and ask for their comments and what they think about your acting. Are you too nervous..? Do you stutter your lines..? Find out, and fix that :) Keep acting in front of your audience, until you can make it even bigger. Add more to your audience and still get comments on how you act and what you can do to improve it. Over 50 can even be over 20.. big crowds always look big, but you gotta be confident :) Believe in yourself, that you Can do it, and that practicing those lines in the mirror and in front of your parents and friends and classmates should pay off, that in the final act everything will be alright. Confidence my friend, that's all.
And your rewards? A very good deal of clapping, and smiles, and the satisfaction that it was your night and you preformed great =)

Don't be afraid. Everybody gets nervous in front of crowds sometimes. Big crowds can actually be better because you don't have to look anyone directly in the eye and see if they're liking the show or not. I know exactly how you feel. I also have trouble performing in front of crowds, particularly singing. Just go out there and put your heart and soul into it! What's the worst thing that could happen? ;)

You have to put yourself into the role such that you aren't acting anymore. And forget that the audience is out there. Once the house lights go out you can't see them anymore and that helps.

try acting in front of 49 people, then have one more person show up and you will see that there is no difference.

oh come on!! thicken your face!! i mean, drama club members needs confidence in yourself. try acting in front of a big mirror and have an eye-to-eye contact on your eyes. as much as possible..you must breathe...once you're there...and act as if no one is watching..

I've done the same thing and just don't worry about it and imagine the people in their underwear LOL!
be prepared to do your best and make them laugh but in a good way.

Try it out again but don't focus on the audience. Look straight ahead in whatever direction you're facing and try to concentrate.
