Bill N (below) Too be honest. Because I'm getting pissed off about it. Who are they to cry foul for asking a question? If they are so afraid of a question then why are they here? Their reaction and attacks only make more enemies. Keep it up and they will have an enemy in me...

ruth (below) Suggest you go back to the posts and read them again. Here's a sample of what was hurled at me:
"No, are you just a Jew hater..."
Want to try again?

Maybe, the same approach is done when people ask questions regarding other matters in politics.
People that want to stifle communication on a subject are clearly on an agenda. If there is nothing to hide, there should be no problems with questions being asked. Right now, people question everything about the decisions being made by our President, our congress, our business owners, everybody really! And no question is ruled as unimportant or not worthy of being asked. There is a clear double standard when it comes to Israel. The double standard has become the standard.
1 billion love Michael Jordan. And Michael Jackson. How can so many people be right about anything.

If they are asking resonable questions about Isreal than they should not be attacked. Isreal is a country that has been attacked for years for their beliefs and there politics. I do not forsee and end anytime soon. Just because I believe that Isreal is a good country does not mean that they are always right or have no corruption of their government. Just like any society they have their negative sides and their positive sides. We need to stop being so critical of all countrys just because they do not believe in what the majority believes in. WE ARE ALL HUMAN AND FULL OF MISTAKES, no country is better than anyone elses nor are people better than anyone else. We are equal!

You may have this perception due to the fact that most questions here about Israel are not reasonable or benign. There isn't a day here that I see less than four or five questions where someone feigns innocence and asks clearly anti-semitic questions.
Valid questions are always welcomed by rational people. Poor attempts at Socratic irony that intend to malign Israel in favor of Islamic fanatics are not.

Your question presents two rants, disguised as questions.
First, there are very few reasonable questions about Israel. There are questions posed by people who cannot differentiate between cultures, who think that suicide bombers are to be sympathized with, who would otherwise be intelligent and reasoning, that the questioner wishes would appear reasonable, but are just hate filled spew.
Second, characterizing all responses as malicious insults is a gross distortion on your part.
Israel is one of the few countries in the region that governs with the consent of the governed.
So please, give us an example of the reasonable question that elicited a malicious response.

It has always been effective to accuse someone of racism in order to stifle a question no matter how innocent the question may be.
After a while everyone becomes afraid to ask a question for fear of being labeled a "racist".Eventually the group or party, whatever, becomes untouchable and beyond question.
Very dangerous indeed.

Because AIPAC and the ADL have made it their business to scream "anti-Semite" at every opportunity, even at Jewish scholars like Norman Finkelstein.
Reading the newspaper Ha'aretz out of Tel Aviv, I am constantly surprised by just how varied and intelligent the level of dialogue is over the question of Israel and Zionism. Funny how Israelis don't have to fear being labelled!

Too often questions about Israel are covers for anti Semitic, Jew-baiting digs. If you look at Yahoo Question poster "Hidan"; this guy revels in hate speech.
For a lot of folks, criticism of Israel amounts to support for Palestine and Hamas and all the rest of the Islamic network of terrorists. When a country is repeatedly told by its enemies that its destruction is the goal, folks get testy and 'reasonable questions' are suspect.
Israelis believe "never again" and because of that, their reaction to perceived threats, either verbal or actual (or in Yahoo Questions) is strong.

Methinks thou doth protest too much.
Oh no! How horrible! You post a question on Israel and some people take you to task for it! And, some of them even insulted you! I mean, that never happens on the Internet or Yahoo Answers, that forum where everybody is so nice and kind to each other.
