Because the makeup gathers around the pores..all makeup will do this, even mineral makeup. Depending on your skin type, I'd recommend a balancing T-zone gel to mattify the area and make the pores less visible. Why not try the Shiseido T zone gel or something made from Tea Tree which is available at the body shop. You can also wear a clay mask treatment once a week which should tighten up the pores and give you a nice glow!

After through cleansing apply a oil free moisturizer with sunscreen, there are several depending on the availability in Hawii. Avon renew oil free with spf 15 is good, clinique City Block is another, all the major commpanies- Hawiaiin Tropic, Sunbabies, Coppertone all make a waterproof gel sun block.
You apply your pore minimizer-( Avon makes a good one) ffirs,t then finish with our moisturizer with sunblock, or sunblock alone.
City block (Clinique) is a matte finish so that helps in the apperance of you pores.
Also if you still want to wear makeup, choose an oil free matte finish makeup. Every cosmetic company produces one that will work for you. If you can forgo the foundation a nd use a loose powder blended specifically to your complexion. Apply with a powder brush, and not your spognes or fingers. powder brushes, (big fluffy ones) give you a nice matte finish w/o looking heavy or cakey.
Also you want to keep in mind that any sort of shimmer or sparkle on the face reflects light, giving the apperance of larger pores. Also makeup that is,moisturizing, light reflecting will have the same effect.
Also discard those puffs that come in compacts, afer a couple of uses ur just putting the oils back onto your face from the puff as it holds the oil.
Blotting papers are wonderful too, as your skin begins to "shine" again take a blotting paper, blot and you'll be as good as new.

Mineral makeup is great for diminishing pores and the mineral finishing powder is even better. I use Loreal.
