I say yes, without a doubt...... Lebron will be in the future and wade/melo will be up there........ and there are alot of great playes (mcgrady, yao, garnett, pierce, allen, iverson, kidd, nash, dirk, oneal, arenas, and many mmore).....

and anyone that answers kobe, just think about this: you dont think the lakers would be better off with duncan instead of kobe? I laugh hysterically if you think otherwise, and you are definitely lying to yourself if so. (kobe is the best 2guard in the nba though)

Duncan has been the best player in the nba since 2005, and still is today...... agreed?

I wrote this in a previous answer. But here is why: In the ten seasons in which Duncan has played, his Spurs were never eliminated from the NBA playoffs before the Western Conference Semifinals. That was until this past season. The Spurs were eliminated by the Suns in the first round of the 2000 playoffs but Duncan missed the playoffs with a torn lateral meniscus. The fact Tim Duncan has lead his team to at least the Western Conference Semifinals in all eleven of his playoff appearances may have been the most remarkable accomplishment in a Hall of Fame career. Along with all of his amazing postseason accomplishments Duncan’s Spurs have won 50 games in ten straight seasons. Duncan would have won 50 in twelve straight seasons but the NBA had a lockout during the 1998-1999 season and only played 50 games during the regular season. Excluding the lockout season the Spurs have averaged 57 wins per year during the Tim Duncan era in San Antonio. Not even kobe, shaq, Mj can boast those number. He is the greatest winner of the last 20 years. NOt on bill russells level, but as close as your gona get. Plus the 4 rings and 3 finals mvp as well.

The list you gave in "great players" are as good as Duncan., maybe not fundamentally but game-wise everyone has their own strenghths and weaknesses. There's no best player in the NBA in my opinion but there are outstanding players like Kobe, T-Mac, LeBron(you'll see him on top within a few more years), Wade(Flash is injury prone though), Steve Nash(he makes his team better,& better), Garnett(argueably a contender for defense) and "many more".

Duncan is the best player ... but isn't as marketable as Kobe, James or Melo so people are brainwashed by sneaker ads and highlights.
Count the Rings!!! and not the ones Shaq handed to that lil rat b*tch Kobe. Does everybody realize Kobe ratted out Shaq when he got in hot water. He's a disgrace!!

Well who's got more rings kobe,kg or duncan...i would go with duncan. KG couldndn't win a ring with cassell and spreewell or any cast that was put around him. Kobe had shaq and still was never guaranteed a ring. Duncan has succeeded regardless of the team put around him and never bounced out of the first round. Duncan now. MJ all time.

I still say Kobe is the better player. if Duncan was on the Lakers, they wouldn't be a team that could get deep into the playoffs.
