I want to make a long button down tunic?

I want it to be long sleeved to fall at least 4 inches over my knees (i am about 5' 2"). The fabric is 43" wide. How much fabric should I buy?

What size are you? That's going to make a difference. Long sleeves take up huge amounts of fabric. For instance, on this pattern (it's not buttoned, but you get the idea) you would want to start with the dress and then add onto the length, so I would go half a yard more than what they suggest.
