I don't believe it would be possible for any bank to let you access "as soon as" you open an account. It does need some time to process your application.
Now-a-days most banks offer on-line account opening service e.g. Bank of America, Wachovia, etc.

I know of nowhere you can open a bank account without doing it in person. But, most banks will give you access immediately.

If you live in Fl, suncoast credit union is AWSOME about that, bank of america allows you to open your account online, so you have access right away. try regions, formerly known as amsouth.
