she needs to change her diet more than anything. puppyfat is a myth, she's eating too much and not exercising sufficiently

Hi Mary, I too well know how she feels, as i was in the same position when i was 11 - actually i was a size 10-12. I did often find it very difficult to find a outfit, used to notice all the girls wearing things i just couldn't, BUT if you have the time - you have the patience you would be able to find something.
Now i know it MAY look a little old for her but in the UK we have a shop called Jane Norman, now in here, we have absoloutly beautiful little dresses, which trust me look AMAZING on a curvey young lady. I had to have one of these once, my mom just lost the old look with it, by putting a little cardy over it - and some beeds, you should look.

If she is 11and wearing size 8/10 for adults I would say she is probably in the same bracket as at least 30% of her age group! I teach in a secondary school and we have 11 year old girls who get asked for ID in pubs less than I do!! Not because they are fat but because they look mature (not necessarily clothes wise) Be careful about making this an issue or she will become paranoid about the size she 'should' be. The fashion industry are notorious for making people think they are bigger than they really are - as long as she wears sensible 'adult' clothes, she wont be growing up before her time!
Just realised as I am in UK - 8/10 is bigger than it is here. Try not to make it an issue for her though!

i have sympathy for u i have been there. my daughter is now 13. her older and younger brothers are like stick insects but she was always big and at 11 its difficult to find suitable clothes. try m&s or next (directory - the shop doesnt do clothes up to age 16 but the directory does) most of her stuff came from next and she was wearing age 15-16. they do a lot of smart clothes suitable for a wedding. also tammy in BHS we found quite good the jeans fitted her. she so wanted jeans like all her friends but most of them seem to be made for stick insects. take no notice of people who say u have to do something about it, if she is eating healthily then thats fine. as i say my daughter is now 13 shes grown upwards and got boobs, shes curvey but no way fat she now has adult clothes - H&M, new look etc shes size 6/8 and we find petite jeans are good for her size 10 in dorothy perkins we got recently. good luck and hope this helps

i have the same problem . My daughter is just a bit older than yours. I go to George at asda or to matalan as they have a good range of clothes in a size 8/10 that don't make her look too old. I encourage her to eat better and to be more active and she is beginning to lose weight but you do have to take it slowly as she is still developing and they will be hitting puberty soon . Do not put her on diet though without asking your doctor as you can do more damage than good !

I actual have one rule with shorts/skirts she has to have the skill to hold her hand/hands flat at her factors and the hem will nevertheless attain under her finger tips. tank tops are positive interior the summertime. i do think of that dress you published isn't little or no girlish. yet there are deffinately worse issues accessible.. and that i observe the older the female gets the extra serious the clothing gets. by ways i'm getting alot of my clothing at purpose and that i offered all of her wintry climate denims and pj's at costco this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days.

If she can't fit in them she may have to go to the doctors and see about getting a diet and an excersise plan.

I use to have the same problem. Try going in the "misses" dpt. It has all size jeans and pretty nice clothes that im sure your daughter would like. For a wedding try a suttle color...like peach or lavender. Dont do any reds or dark colors. It only makes people look bigger.

Like a lot of other people suggested, I would look for a dress in a department store in the juniors section. I would also consider going to Torrid, a store for plus size girls if you have it in your area. I would be a little concerned though. She should be getting some exercise. If she is a sporty girl then at her age she could do volleyball or soccer. If she doesn't really like exercising you could suggest dance. Maybe hiphop dancing. Try to get her to exercise without her actually realizing it. Whatever you do, do not ignore the issue.

Liek other people said, shopping in the juniors section in different stores will give you bigger sizes, but then you can also fidn clothes in juniors that arent too revealign or anything. Old Navy is really good, and has many dresses and other clothes that woudl fit her, that arent low cut or short at all.
