what are labor laws? I just started a new job and they don't give us breaks. I waited 7 hours to go on lunch the other day! I am calling human resources on Tuesday to report the company. What do you think?

By Labor Board of Relation standards a employer is required to give one of the following: 2-15 minutes breaks, 3-10 minute breaks, or 30 minute break. That is for an 8-10 hour period. If working 12 or more there is to be atleast another 10 or 15 minute break. Before going to the Human resources, talk to your boss and ask what the procedure is for breaks. Be nice about it the first time for this is your new job and you are just beginning. If you gain no headway there, then go higher up.

Talk to your boss before you talk to human resources. Be nice. He may not have known this happened. Give him the benefit of the doubt. If you are new on the job, you can be terminated without any reason, so be nice about it, and not threatening. The lunch break is mandatory.
