Equestrian events, shot put, discus...and of course, those parallel bar and balance beam cliff-hangers with those little bitty girls from countries I can't even pronounce!
Our neighborlady's dad won the silver medal in the 1936 Olympics for discus...she had that discus on her mantelpiece and a whole scrapbook full of clippings about him. One of my dad's friends, Dink Templeton, was an Olympic track star...back in the day when the true amateurs were our heroes...hardly any sponsors, fitting in their training as they could--true gentleman sportsters, individualists all - with far less of the nationalist hype than we get nowadays.

I love watching the Olympics. Like you I love gymnastics (good ole drama with Tonya and Nancy), ice skating, track and field and swimming. The other events I enjoy watching are the trampoline (I can't believe that is a sport) basketball (GO USA) Rhythmic Gymnastics (have you seen how flexible those girls are) and any snowboarding or skiing events!

Those are my favorite events as well. I always look forward to the Olympics, and I'm excited about 2008. Remember the scandal over the men's gymnastics gold medal last time around? Paul Hamm and all that?
It's always amazing that those tiny girls can flip themselves all over the mat in the floor exercise, and land on a four inch piece of wood on the balance beam. And the rhythmic gymnastics! They are truly beautiful. Oh, and diving. Spin, spin, spin, Kerploosh!

This began lower back in the day with ABC activities and the "Up close and private" segments and has grow to be an enduring fixture in activities...and the Olympic video games insurance, especially. you would be shocked on how customary those advantageous properties are...and - submit to in suggestions - the on a regular basis/nightly applications is television programming, so activities is now not seen as an entity the place the sphere of play tells the finished tale.

I never watched the Olympics much, until the "Dream Team".
It's sad...but I don't even know if there's a basketball game in the Olympics now. I do enjoy watching the ice skating.
