So Barry Bonds, Dice K, and Sidney Crosby are just a few examples of players that are not part of the players union and therefore are not featured in video games.

Why would a player choose not to be a part of the players union? What benefit would there be?

No player can play in an NHL game without being a part of the Union.

As far as Barry Bonds, he is very much indeed a part of the MLB Players Union as he is on the executive.

Dice-K...not sure about him. I know there are a handful of players in MLB who aren't in the union (Alfonso Soriano, Kevin Millar, the late Cory Lidle) because they were scabs in the 1994-95 lockout and they were not granted entry.
