I'm not allowed to wear tampons, and we r going to have a swimming unit in gym class, and it's 4 wks long so i'm bound to get my period during the swim unit. My teacher said the only way to get out of swimming is w/a doctors note. I don't have a specific doctor, and my mom isn't gonna take me to a doctor to get a note because i'm on my period. What do i do?!?!?!?!? I don't want to tell my teacher that i can't swim because i have my period since he's a guy, and it would be embarassing.

same situation at my school.
just wear a pad in your swimsuit during roll call and stuff,
but right before you get in the water, ask your teacher if you can go use the bathroom. then go to the bathroom and take out the pad and get in the pool as quickly as possible. once you're in the pool you have nothing to worry about. there won't be a stream of blood following you [just like there's not usually any blood when you take a shower.]
just do this and you'll be fine.

PS: DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT get in the pool w/ a pad on! that'll be extremely embarrassing.

Don't worry about it teachers know what periods are even male teachers. Maybe before gym class ask him if you could talk to him in private and explain to him that you can swim for the next few days because you have your period, he'll probabley get the picture and if that doesn't work have your mum or dad write a note explaining why you can't swim!

He's a gym teacher so he should be used to things like this. You either need to try a tampon (in secret, but, why does your mom not want you to use tampons?) or not swim.

Edit: Show her this question. I wore tampons when I first started menstruating at age 11 and I lost my virginity at age 21. Having a tampon in does NOT mean you lose your virginity!

Unlike what someone below said, your period DOES NOT STOP OR SLOW DOWN in water! It only gets dispersed by the water (in the shower or in the pool) so it only LOOKS like it stops or slows.

He'll be just as embarassed as you - whenever it comes, just tell him you have your period. That will be that.
