I just started taking Zoloft on Tuesday..Until today I was only taking half of the pill because my doctor wanted my body to get used to it first. Today I took my first whole pill and I am SO tired. Has the drug been in my system long enough to cause such extreme fatigue, or could this be something else? I mean I just took a two hour nap and I feel like I haven't slept at all.

Your body is just getting used to the new dosage. I've been taking zoloft for years. My doctor has me up my dose two weeks before my period starts and also when I'm going through a particularly rough time and the same thing happens to me. Good luck girl!

I have been on Zoloft off and on for about eight years or so.Every time I start to take it for the first three weeks I am bedridden for most of the day.Granted I was on 100 mg daily. But the lower the dose the lower the fatigue level!

Zoloft can cause fatigue. Keep taking it for a few more days and see how you feel. If you feel the same, call your doctor and tell them what's going on so they can make the adjustment.

It most likely is the drug. When I start a new drug that has that kind of side effect, I drink something with caffeine when I feel really tired, until the fatigue lets up.

Yes, fatigue can be a side effect but most times it does wear off as your body adjusts to the med. You won't see any sudden changes as the changes are slow, but the fact that you mention being able to get out of bed & not have to try to motivate yourself proves that the drug is working. As far as the nightmares, you should call your Dr. & explain this to him as this isn't pleasant, In any event, none of us can expect the same results , therefore it would be wiser for you to talk with your Dr. Please don't rely on YA for any medical advice. Best wishes to you.

hey, it is most likely the zoloft, did you go from 25mg to 50 mg or 50mg to 100mg, either way, its just your body getting used the the higher doseage, it happened when i was on it too, it will probably pass in a week at the most, but if it doesnt go talk to your doc about it.
good luck
