How does your school pronounce it?

1) Uranus that sounds like Ur an is
2) Uranus that sounds like Your Anus

Vote please and tell me which one your teachers use and what grade u are in

It sounds like Your Anus.

Hey they might laugh but guess what, they will remember it. Just because it sounds naughty. Kids huh! ; )

It's a little silly to be so embarrassed about the second choice, as it's really more common. Your students will giggle, but they'll get over it.

PS: I think in the original Greek, maybe it was (oo ran OS) with no Y sound at all.

I am a teacher (semi-retired) and would definitely put the accent on the first syllable.Hope this helps

Choice 1 is correct and, as far as I know, it is not because of political correctness.

YOUR-in-us is what I recall

It used to be called after the discoveror - Herschel. Try that.
