If f, g, & h are vectors and if,

f x g = h x g, does it follow that f = h? why or why not??

Think of it in normal numbers

fg = hg
Therefore fg - hg = 0
Therefore (f - h)g = 0
If g = 0, then f - h doesn't have to be 0, so f doesn't have to equal h.

If fg=hg
then (fg)/g=(hg)/g
equals f=h

True!

no. all you can say is that

(f-h) X g = 0
which says that (f-h) is parallel to g, or, of course, 0.
